A hint for being more motivated to choose healthier eating options:
If you are eating a salad because “this has no fat” then you are subconsciously thinking about the ‘naughty’ foods you are missing out on. Instead, think about the different vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals and fibre you are eating in your salad. You will subconsciously begin to think of the less healthy meal options as “missing out” on all these delicious nutrients.
Rather than focusing on what the food is not, (eg. no fat or low in sugar), focus on what the food is (eg. a good source of vitamins and antioxidants).
Thinking more positively about healthy foods makes you enjoy them more while you are eating them. It will also make you more likely to choose the healthy option next time. This works particularly well when trying to incorporate more fruit and vegetables in your diet.
